How do I install over-the-top?

Normally, we recommend doing a clean install.

However, there are times when you may need to install over-the-top of a previous installation.

To install over-the-top:

  • Locate the directory where the old copy of the program is installed

    • If the program icon is still on your desktop or in your Start menu, you can locate the directory by right-clicking on the icon, selecting PROPERTIES, and looking in the START IN and TARGET boxes - START IN will tell you the beginning of the directory path and TARGET will complete the path.

    • If you cannot find the program icon, look on your C drive for the program folder - the default directories for our programs are in C:\PROGRAM FILES

  • Download a new copy of the installer for the desired program from one of the download sites here:

  • Run the installer and tell it to install the program directly over the old location using the directory path you discovered above
